The oldest stone castle in the land appears for the very first time in the Kosmas Chronicles and was built in the year of our Lord 1121. Over the years the construction of castles and chateaus caught on so much that we can find something similar, or at least the remains, almost everywhere we look. Once important bastions of our defences and the seats of the leading lords, now, several centuries later, these still remind us of the skill and ingenuity of our forefathers, so it is no wonder that they attract thousands of visitors every year. Besides the usual tours, the modern-day castle and chateau owners prepare countless themed events which at least for a while whisk us a few hundred years back in time.
