houseDagmar Pecková, the world-famous operatic mezzo-soprano was born 4 April 1961 in the Medlešice district of Chrudim. She graduated from the Prague Conservatoire and studied opera in Dresden. She is a frequent performer on the international stage as part of her concert tours. Her voice is admired by audiences in Covent Garden in London, Carnegie Hall in New York and the Theatre du Chátelet in Paris. She has collaborated with many Czech and foreign orchestras and is currently one of the leading mezzo-sopranos. Her most successful recordings include a CD with arias by Gustav Mahler and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In 1999, she received the Thalia Award in the field of opera for her role as Carmen in a production by the National Theatre in Prague. She has two children, a son Theodor and daughter Dorothea.

Český Krumlov, which is a very charming town and, of course, to Telč. Actually, the whole region of South Bohemia is beautiful. Every town seems nicer than the other; the same can be said about the castles. Kutná Hora is also very pretty, as well as Duchcov Chateau. There are so many beautiful places in our country. Whenever my family and husband come to visit, they are excited. Although the kids a little less so, as they are still a bit too small to understand. But my husband says that it is a truly beautiful country.
And where do you feel best?
In Prague, without a doubt; I love to come back. The city has a fascinating atmosphere that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
