The so called „pearl in the UNESCO neclace“ is a silver town just 60 kilometres from Prague. In the Middle Ages, thanks to its rich silver mines and the royal mint house, Kutná Hora was the second most important royal town after the capital.
Nowadays the city represents a great example of the czech culture fi lled with rich history. Visitors can start their journey at the beautiful Cathedral of St. Barbara, UNESCO World Heritage monument. From there one can wander through the romantic streets of the UNESCO city, peek into the Gallery of the Central Bohemian region (GASK), followed by the The Gutenberg Printing House. Kutna Hora´s silver secrets can be discovered at the Czech Museum of Silver, at the replica of a medieval silver mine, and at the former royal mint at Vlašský dvůr (Italian Court).
During the journey from the Czech muzeum of Silver and Italian Court visitors should not miss Interactive exhibition about Kutna Hora and UNESCO at Dacickeho house. Make sure not to miss the sweet and sour history of the chocolate factory Lidka. Yet another of Kutná Hora’s places of interest is the legendary Ossuary decorated with the bones of over 40,000 people. The Ossuary together with The Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady and St John the Baptist in Sedlec makes up a comprehensive complex of the oldest part of Kutná Hora. Kutná Hora is a genuine treasury of unique experiences of all kinds and is ready to satisfy also the visitors’ palates. Besides the delicacies cooked by the Kutná Hora alchemists, the local wines had earned mention as far back as in the early-12th-century Cosmas Chronicle and have since been awarded prizes in many national as well as international competitions. The little ones can have fun at the Muzeum of LEGO, mirror maze, the toboggan track and much more.
