A Great Place for a Holiday

A Great Place for a HolidayThe ?rst of the sunshine has probably already warmed every corner of our country and now you can begin thinking about your holiday. You could consider the picturesque town of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, located at the foot of the Radhošťský Belt of the Moravskoslezské Beskydy mountain range.

History
Lovers of monuments and history will undoubtedly be interested in Frenštát Square, with its partially preserved arcades, a fountain with the Roman God Neptune and the Column dedicated to the Virgin. Younger visitors will be captivated by the striking of the town hall clock which takes place every quarter of an hour. You can learn more about the local history and traditions in the Museum, located in the building of a former school. Another place of interest is Buckwheat Mill, where millers have been milling buckwheat for four generations.

Culture
During your holiday you will have an opportunity to see a number of cultural and sporting events, organised within the Frenštát Cultural Summer. In May there is the Gathering of Cimbalom Bands of the Kingdom of Wallachian Moravia, in June the Day of the Town, in July and August the Cyril and Methodius Fair on Radhošt, the Goulash Festival, Čas Radio Moravian Tour, 2009 FÓRum and Frenštát Festivities.

Sport
If you prefer more active relaxation, then you must defi nitely visit the aqua-park boasting a swimming pool with massaging jets, wild water attraction, a water mushroom, a climbing net and 60 m long toboggan. We recommend having a try at the largest mountain rope climbing centre in the CR– Tarzania. You can raise your adrenalin level at the scooter track in Pustevna – Ráztoka or when driving go-karts around the circuit which is safe for both children and adults.

Tourism
A Great Place for a HolidayThe Beskydy peaks are interwoven with many tourist paths attracting hikers as well as cyclists. You can start sedately – walking along the Frenštát pod Radhoštěm nature trail. This 1.7 km long path has a total of 9 information stops. Following the green tourist route you can set off for Velký Javorník, the highest peak of Veřovické Hills. A popular tourist destination is Pustevny which boasts Radhošť peak. Hiking west along the ridge you will come to the holy mountain of Radhošť, passing Cyrilka observation tower and the statue of the Pagan god Radegast, on the way. It is possible to set out on a number of other interesting trips from Pustevny, for example to Skalík’s Meadow, Martiňák or along Devil’s Mill nature trail.
