The SKITRANS transportation system enters yet another, season already the fifth in its history and on that occasion resents entire information about transport services for all winter sports lovers. We believe that this jubilee 5th season will be more favourable than the last one.
Regular lines to the well-known southern Bohemian ski resorts Lipno and Zadov are fix stars of the SKITRANS transportation system. Since the last year they have been strengthened by a new regular line Lipno Skibus (Polipenský skibus) on the route Horní Planá – Lipno – Vyšší Brod with daily operation. The three already mentioned service lines are supplemented by the connection to German skiing centre Mitterdorf (Philippsreut, Mitterfirmiansreut). On the contrary from the last season it will be operated as a regular international line.
The task of the line České Budějovice – Mitterdorf is not only to transport to this ski resort. The line fits into the developing SKITRANS system and it will help cross country skiers starting in Mitterdorf, where you can get by morning connection, to return comfortably from Volary back to České Budějovice with this skidding connection of Czech Railways from Nové Údolí to Volary.
Servicing of the ski resort by train is a novelty of the coming season. A special train connection YETTI from České Budějovice to Lipno upon Vltava and back which is operated in the frames of the SKITRANS transportation system from December 15 will be connected with a bus line going directly to the ski lift. Another small novelty, though very important for system operators, is the new explanation “p” that means that the connection is operated only within opening hours of the ski resort that it services. Snow fall will hopefully be sufficient enough to secure that this novelty will not remain in theory.
